Background
Tea is one of the worlds most popular drinks. Tea production and tea products generate income for many people involved with tea to the extent that it is now a plant of major economic significance in several countries, such as China and India. Chiang Rai Province is the largest tea-growing area in Thailand and in response to the needs for knowledge and expertise for tea production and tea products, Mae Fah Luang University, located in Chiang Rai, has established Thailands only Tea Institute with the primary responsibility to serve tea growers in Chiang Rai and elsewhere.
In order to advance knowledge, an International Conference on Tea Production and Tea Products is scheduled for November 26-28, 2008 at Mae Fah Luang University, Chiang Rai, Thailand. At this Conference, tea producers, tea exporters, tea importers, tea processers, and researchers worldwide will discuss the production, supply, demand, marketing, logistics, and safety of tea and tea products, as well as other problems and issues faced by people involved in the tea industry. Industry representatives and scientists from Thailand, GMS countries, China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, and Vietnam will present keynote papers, country reports, and make research presentations at the Conference.
